FIDO2

The Gold Standard in Passwordless Security

ThinC Auth BioPro

Changing the Nature of Authentication

The FIDO Alliance is an open industry association with a focused mission: reduce the world’s reliance on passwords. To accomplish this, the FIDO Alliance promotes the development of, use of, and compliance with standards for authentication and device attestation.

Passwords endure despite the growing consensus their use needs to be reduced, if not replaced. Consumers don’t like the user experience, and online service providers don’t want the cost and complexity of developing and provisioning their own dedicated solutions.

The FIDO Alliance is changing the nature of authentication with open standards for phishing-resistant sign-ins with passkeys that are more secure than passwords and SMS OTPs, simpler for consumers and employees to use, and easier for service providers to deploy and manage. The Alliance also provides standards for secure device onboarding to ensure the security and efficiency of connected devices operating in cloud and IoT environments.

Ensurity is a Member of FIDO Alliance since 2017.

Features

Why FIDO2? The Unphishable Advantage

Traditional multi-factor authentication (MFA) like SMS or one-time passwords (OTP) can still be phished, sim-swapped, or intercepted. FIDO2 is different. FIDO2 offers robust advantages over traditional authentication methods like passwords or SMS-based MFA, focusing on security, usability, and scalability. These advantages make FIDO2 ideal for enterprises shifting to zero-trust models, with adopters reporting higher productivity.

Phishing-Resistant Authentication
Utilizes FIDO2’s cryptographic challenges tied to specific domains, preventing phishing, man-in-the-middle (MITM), and replay attacks. A credential created for www.your-company.com cannot be used to phish a login at www.your-company.fake.com. The ThinC-AUTH series ensures credentials cannot be reused or stolen, enhancing security for enterprise systems.

Enhanced Privacy and Compliance
Stores private keys and biometric templates securely on the device (not servers), protecting user data and aiding compliance with regulations like GDPR, PCI-DSS, and other regulations. No shared secrets mean lower risk of server compromises.
Transferring data from the cloud to the phone
User-Friendly and Mobile-Compatible
Simple self-registration and USB-with-OTG-enabled keys make it practical for mobile and remote workforces, with seamless integration across devices.
Rising crypto market with secure data servers
Scalability and Interoperability
Open standards ensure easy deployment without proprietary lock-in, supporting cloud apps and enterprise tools like Microsoft Entra ID or Windows Hello for Business.

Cross-Platform Flexibility
Works across desktops (Windows, macOS, Linux), mobile devices (iOS, Android via OTG adapter), and major browsers, ensuring flexibility for diverse enterprise environments, including remote and hybrid workforces.
Secure online banking and finance management
AMS for the corporate-edition of ThinC-AUTH series
Provides lifecycle management for security keys, enabling enterprises to manage inventory, assign/unassign keys, enroll fingerprints, and track usage with audit trails. This simplifies administration and enhances security governance.

Benefits

Benefits and ROI of FIDO2 Security Keys

Implementing FIDO2 delivers measurable financial returns by cutting costs related to breaches, support, and operations. Enterprises often see quick payback through reduced help desk tickets, avoided breach expenses, and improved efficiency. Key metrics from case studies include:

01
High ROI
A Forrester study on FIDO2 Security Keys showed 99.9% reduction in phishing risks, 75% fewer password-related help desk tickets, and productivity gains. Additionally, it enabled 50% revenue growth from better deal conversions due to enhanced security reputation.·
02
Reduced Operating Expenses
Intuit achieved 95-97% authentication success rates (vs. 80% baseline) and 70% faster sign-ins, lowering customer friction and support costs. With over 77 million FIDO registrations, this scaled to significant savings in global operations.
03
Breach Prevention Savings
By mitigating phishing (involved in 36% of breaches), FIDO2 avoids average breach costs of $4.45 million (per IBM).
04
Other Cost Reductions
Eliminates password reset expenses (up to $70 per incident), cuts IAM management costs, and boosts efficiency.
